The Primary School Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality education to primary school students, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. The teacher plans, implements, and assesses lessons that support students' academic, social, emotional, and physical development. They work closely with colleagues, parents, and administrators to ensure that students achieve their full potential in alignment with the school’s mission and curriculum standards.
Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery and Instruction
- Lesson Planning
Plan and prepare engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the curriculum objectives and cater to the diverse learning needs of all students. - Instruction and Facilitation
Deliver dynamic and interactive lessons across subjects such as literacy, numeracy, science, social studies, and arts, using a variety of teaching techniques and technologies to enhance learning. - Assessment and Evaluation
Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress, and provide feedback to students and parents on academic performance.
Classroom Management and Student Engagement
- Classroom Environment
Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages active learning and student participation. - Behavioural Management
Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain discipline, respect, and order, addressing any behavioural challenges in a supportive manner. - Student Motivation and Well-being
Foster students’ social and emotional well-being by providing encouragement, setting clear expectations, and supporting individual needs.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaboration with Colleagues
Work closely with other teachers, teaching assistants, and school staff to plan interdisciplinary lessons, share best practices, and participate in team meetings. - Parent Communication
Maintain open and regular communication with parents, providing updates on student progress, behaviour, and any concerns, and collaborating to support student learning at home.
Student Development and Support
- Differentiated Instruction
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the varied needs of students, including those with different learning abilities or language needs (EFL/ESL). - Individual Student Support
Identify students requiring additional academic or emotional support and implement strategies to assist them, working with counsellors and support staff as necessary.
Professional Development and School Contribution
- Ongoing Professional Growth
Participate in professional development opportunities, including workshops, seminars, and training, to stay current with educational trends, methods, and technologies. - Contribution to School Activities
Take part in school-wide activities, events, and initiatives, such as assemblies, clubs, and extracurricular programs, contributing to the overall school community. - Report Writing
Prepare and submit reports on student progress, lesson outcomes, and class activities, ensuring that all records are accurate and up to date.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Primary Education focus preferred).
- Certification: Teaching certification or licence required.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a primary school setting is preferred.
- Skills: Strong organisational and communication skills; ability to engage and motivate students; proficiency in integrating educational technology into lessons.
